On the Ameren website they have lots of video and pics of when they rolled into town last night. Looked MUCH worse than I had imagined. Appears nothing in their beautiful downtown went untouched. Looks like most buildings have serious structual damage. The road to Elmwood, state Rt 116, was still closed here at Farmington this afternoon. We went north of town today to check on cattle in a pasture that is a couple miles south of state Rt 8 that goes into Elmwood, and there was no sign of any storm there. Just lucky that no one got hurt with all of that damage. Like I said earlier, we watched the whole thing happen from 8 miles away. We stood in the yard and watched the tornado travel across the prarie but we didnt know exactly where it was at but we thought it was between here and Elmwood. In a few minutes we would find out it made a direct hit on Elmwood. My parents live up the road a half mile and they said they were watching out their back door as well and saw it all happen too. Said from their vantage point they could see what they thought were transformers exploding. Since it was still daylight and there wasnt any rain here at Farmigton many people saw the storm. There will be some pretty rough days for the residents of Elmwood. Sadly they dealt with a serious storm last year and this time it is much worse.
