If I've learned one thing during 30+ years in the auto repair business, it's that whenever someone brings their own parts and expects you to install them, you can bet they're going to whine and cry no matter what you charge.
Once when I was a Ford Service Manager, a customer brought an F250 with the 7.3 diesel in with a bad alternator. Turned out his batteries were marginal too, so I priced him a pair of Ford OEM batteries. He went through the roof and said he could get them $30 each cheaper somewhere else. I told him, "Fine".
He came back with his own "el cheapo" batteries and we installed them for him. Two weeks later, we sold him a new $400 starter AND a pair of Ford OEM batteries.
