Not only is the Angola prison in Louisiana self sustaining; it supplies food to other prisons in the state. 5000 inmates on 18,000 acres and 95% of them will never leave. They grow four million pounds of vegetables a year. With the free labor this translates to $1.41 a day to feed an inmate three meals.
The rodeo has gotten so big that they have one every Sunday in Oct. (5 this year)
