If they are not able to force you DON"T SELL THEM THE RIGHT AWAY. You are giving them effective ownership of that ground. For a little money now you will get a PIA forever. Rural water came through here twenty five years ago and my grand dad signed them an easement. He said it only applied to ten feet of the public road. WRONG!!!! They came in two years ago and put in a 6" main across my best farm ground. I got nothing for it. They did it in the fall after harvest. I have had two tractors and the combine stuck in the trench since then. I want to add to the tile in the lower part of that same field. The tile guy told me it would cost an extra $7500 dollars because they have to hand dig around the water main. If they damage it then they have to pay all the repairs. I will never sign any type of easement or right away.
