Kind of unheard of around here for the most part, foolish to even consider it to be honest. Stealing round bales is ridiculous, price was around $150/ton, stupid is as stupid does LOL !
I had to comment about the boards with nails, they don't work unless you use 20d or bigger.
What does work is anything that resembles what law enforcement uses, tire spikes ie; sharpened steel pipe, angle iron etc.
I've had no choice at times to put these in ATV tire tracks, 1/4" 3" x 3" angle or a similar size, cut the angle into points, old rusty stock seems to blend in nice too. These do not bend like nails do. You take those points, hone em nice with your angle grinder, then weld to another piece of angle iron, so the point is up and one leg of the angle is down. You then carefully embed the tire spike into the dirt, use sod to camoflauge sp ? it works nice when the topsoil has moisture and in clay/ loams etc, when things dry out, that sucker is in there but good. I don't like having to do this, and use other means to keep em out, but 2 years ago someone stole a bunch of stands in the area, cameras, so if you hit me below the belt you will get the same, people are just brazen about stealing sometimes, it's great to watch em stopped dead in their tracks with shredded tires. Then you just call the police and play dumb about the tires, as they are like finding a needle in a hay stack.
