I don"t think you have air in the system if it starts and then dies. I think you have a problem in the return line. If the pump can"t return fuel to the tank, which it returns more at idle, it builds pressure up internally and quits pumping fuel. Remove the return line at the injection pump. Start it and see if it runs then. If it does then you have a blockage in the return line/system. Remove the fuel cap and blow air through the return line and you should hear a good steady flow. I had a 4020 drive me nuts this spring. It had restriction in the return system. I finally went fitting to fitting checking if I had flow. I found a piece of rubber stuck in the elbow at the tank, came out of the injection pump which was what I was replacing. Removed it and all was well.
