seems there is always trouble with new sediment bowl assemblies, even if from the dealer that has genuine parts.
I've discovered bowl gasket leaks can be cleared up by trimming the screen about a 32nd of an inch smaller. for some reason the mesh is too large in diameter and makes a path for gas to leak...pour out. usually the first time you replace the gasket is when that occurs, the bowl's original one sometimes is made with a thicker rib on the outer edge to prevent the screen leak.
You should probably disassemble completely upon opening package and inspect for flaws and defects inside.
This new one wouldn't shut off completely, and in a process of essentially overtightening the shutoff valve by hand little by little until the seepage stopped. never overtighten again--be gentle. the first time shapes the valve seat properly.
