MF165 MYSTERY PART w/pics

This is for a 1971 MF165 Ser #9A127903. I'm doing a total rewire after an electrical fire and I can't figure out what this little gizmo does. Any help or thought would be greatly appreciated. MF Poor, if you read this, I'd like to take you up the offer for the wiring schematic if you can find it. Thanks in advance.
