I've used both. Clamp-ons put a trememdous amount of pressure on the wheel they're clamped onto, particularly if you drive through a ditch or something similar where the dual carries all the weight, even momentarily. With a stamped wheel on the tractor, there's a possibility of cracking the center of the wheel out around the lug bolts. Nothing wrong with them, you just need to make sure the wheels will handle the extra stress. A dealer should be able to tell you.
The rule of thumb I heard was clamp-ons are OK if the tractor has cast wheels, and not recommended with stamped wheels on the tractor.
