There is no "better" or "worse." All depends on what you want. Gear drive(even when engine isnt't running) or a trans that relies on hydraulic pressure on clutch-disks.
Powershift robs a little engine power and fuel efficiency - but only by a little. Powershift uses an extra 5-7 horsepower just to power itself. So, the injection-pump has to be turned up to make up for that. As a result the PS models gets a little worse efficiency.
Main thing is - if you have trans-problems, a Powershift is going go be extremely expensive to repair. SynchroRange is usually much more forgiving.
When I'm on a big Deere, coming down a steep hill, I like knowing that if the engine dies, I've got a transmission gear to hold me back. With SyncrhoRange, you've got that. With Powershift, you don't. Neither is likely to have any brakes or steering with a dead engine. So, having a gear-trans is nice to have in that kind of situation.
