I kind of had a similiar incident, but one thing the identity theft people told me to do. Since I had my social security card in my wallet, was to notify all credit reporting bureaus to put a watch on that SS number and make a report with the FBI. I notified all 4 credit reporting bureaus and after about 2 months they tried to get a loan with my SS number. They put a watch on my SS number for 12 months and anytime they tried to use that number, the credit reporting bureau had to contact me with special question and answers to confirm my identity. It's a pain but you have to protect yourself. The FBI said to never carry your SS card in your wallet with any of your other identification, because now the crooks have everything they need to assume your identity. Just my 2 cents
