Do you now have anything connected to the "kill" terminal on the mag that could be shorting out the spark? You didn't at any time feed battery voltage into that terminal, did you?
If "no" to the above questions the "no spark" problem may be as simply as dirty/corroded breaker points.
Take a clean strip of cardstock and draw it through the points number of times to burnish them. Then, turn the engine over to a spot where the points are OPEN and clean away any dirt and paper residue with spray electrical contact cleaner, and allow them to air dry while "open", before attempting to check for spark.
