Very sad day.... But looking back, there was one humorous episode that afternoon. I was a Purdue University sophomore at the time. Professor didn't show for a class, so we all left. Walking back to the dorm, we could tell something was going on, because very few people were outside. We got to the dorm, and about 8 of us huddled around a radio in one room. We caught up with the fact Kennedy had been shot, and then the announcement came that he was dead.
There was one student in the room from somewhere in central Africa. He had a multi-syllable name that nobody could pronounce, and we all called him Obi. He didn't speak much English, and he thought the USA was the greatest place on earth. He had an American flag on the wall of his room, and pictures of Eisenhower and Kennedy on each side of it. He wasn't getting all of the information, and with tears streaming down his cheeks, asked another student "Where this happen?"
He was told "Dallas, Texas."
On the opposite side of the room was a brash young fellow from San Antonio, who had a Texas flag in his room. Obi sat there in silence for perhaps 10 seconds, suddenly yelled "CRAZY A$$ TEXANS!" leaped on top of the hapless Texan, and started banging his head against the wall!
Two fellows pulled him off, took him to the hallway, and calmed him down. Someone asked the Texan if he was okay, and with a grin, he said "Yeah, I'm okay! I'm sure glad he didn't have his spear with him!"

Elliott said while this
