Scotland is certainly beautiful. Rode a bicycle from Newcastle along Hadrian's wall and finally to Edinburgh. Ran out of time and didn't make the Highlands. Dawdled too long chasing a friend's Welsh ancestory and then riding thru England. Plan was to turn around at Loch Ness, but gave up the quest and undoubtedly missed much of Scotland's real beauty. On return took an overnight train from Edinburgh to London. Occured about twenty years ago and although have returned to England and Ireland a few times, haven't again toured Scotland. Perhaps in the future but most assuredly in a motor car.
