Vermont is better.You cant take a gun into a school or carry a gun for illegal purposes.Thats it.In Maine you needed a Constable to sign your application in rural areas or police chief in towns that had a dept.You have to take training now.I do think the hunter safety course has cut interest in hunting by young people.Parents wouldnt sign or wouldnt take the kids to the place where the classes.Friends and fathers couldnt do the training.I was in Rome ME in 1954 when I saw boys coming out of a one room school house with Winchester 94s.I was living in MA at the time.
