My wife and I have had "Pistol Permits' for 25 years. When approved, the county judge, stepping all over the Second Amendment, then qualifies them as "Target Shooting and Hunting Only." Concealed Carry hard to get but classes now being offered and my wife and I will take the class after the first of the year.
I'm basically a rifle guy and I know that lots of folks say a shotgun will do the job--and it will. But more often than not, that shotgun will be over in the corner, under the couch or in some similarly unhandy place whereas you will probably have the handgun with you.
Why are we going to get Concealed Carry Permits? Influx of "out of staters" and "South of the Border" folks coming in as they ride the Marcellus Shale wave. Also, my wife who is a nurse has to park in a rather undesireable area to walk to the hopsital.
