I know the exhaust is in the way. The starter wont just drop down on the 4x4. ask me how i know. The 2 wheel drives will. I still drive a 84 s-10 with the 2.8 in it. I bought it cheap and it had a brand new motor in it with 13,000 miles on a long block. I have almost 80,000 on the engine 200,000 on the truck and it looks bad.It keeps my snow free truck nice in the garage. If it wasnt for the new motor it would have been recycled long ago.
