Some countries require a certain amount of local labor and material be a part of a product sold in their country. Deere experienced this in countries such as Argentina, South Africa, and Spain to name a few if my memory is correct. I would imagine the Chinese would be cagey enough to require the same for anybody setting up shop over there. There is a market of nearly 2.3 billion people to be tapped into between China and India and those unfortunately are the areas where the economies are doing best and probably will be doing best going into the future. Can't blame Deere or Case or AGCO if they wanted to tap in. If people have not read the book by Wayne Broehl about Deere and "A Corporate Tragedy" about IH before the merger they should. It's not 1955 in the farm equipment manufacturing business anymore.
