My "company truck" is a 2005 Ford 4x4 with the 6.0.. I'm the 2nd driver since new (a lot of people from work have drove it, but the truck was originally assigned to the gentleman who retired, then was assigned to me).
It has to be serviced EVERY 5k or we hear about it..
The troubles I see with it are:
It rattles and carries on alot on a cold start (and not just when it's COLD outside..) It's worse in winter than the summer, but still..
This truck SMOKES.. I don't know why.. but it does.. warm or cold, it smokes to what I'd call an excess.
I do know when it was NEW it went in a few times for this and that.. seems like maybe the turbo was replaced, also had a ABS problem.
the truck has the 6 speed manual transmission, and had a "utility bed" and I think it gets right around 20 mpg on the freeway.
I have a neighbor who also has a similar truck, he said something about the head gaskets.. He don't take his to Ford, seems like he takes his to Navistar for engine work.. He said something about getting different head gaskets (made from a different material or design or something) and that it is supposed to cure the head gasket issues.. He claims that the ones Ford offers are different from the ones Navistar offers.. But, I think it's a case of I can tell you one thing and someone else can say something different.. You know what I mean, it's all in who you want to believe or trust.

For very little money, this piece of equipment promises to plow and flatten any hill or vale on your ranch road or farm. At least that's what I thought! As simple as a box plow appears, it can be rather challenging to make work correctly. In our sandy soils of Florida, traction is king. You can never have wide enough tires or heavy enough weights to get all the traction you want … unless you own a monster tractor. U
