It was mined by aircraft. We had six Alpha strikes, (Launched every attack plane we had on board) The mines were various types, pressure,contact,time set,sound sensative,ect.. Ya, it was a dicey night up there on Yankee Station. Long days of work and no end in sight. You probably escorted my carrier at one time or another. We had the cruiser Chicago, and the New Jersey with us. The Newport News was in our flotilla several weeks.
