40 acres. Wow. Don't know if I could afford the land and all the tractors I'd need to to run that much land. Heck, I need 3 1/2 tractors just to keep on top of things on my 1/5th acre city lot. Seriously though, get a tractor that has factory 3 point hitch - or you'll wish you had. On 40 acres I can't see you needing more than 50 - 60 HP. I would suggest you look at some of the Fords from the late 60s onward - 3000,4000,5000 - reliable, good parts availability, nimble and just plumb handy within their respective HP ranges. Personally I'd rather buy a good clean tractor that's still in her work clothes than one that's all dandied up and prettyfied.
