If it's a round roll bar, clamping the lights snug but not tight can serve as a sort of swivel protection device for the lights in case you do the inthinkable and go under a low tree or door. I have a couple of added lights clamped to the support bar that goes across the top of my loader and a tree branch has swiveled them out of the way several times.
As another poster said welding or drilling will give a lawyer an "in" if the tractor is rolled and the bar fails. Jim
