I grew up on a 2040 my father bought new in 1976. I stil have it and use it today. The odometer has quite working but I would guess it has somewhere in the neighborhood of 15,000 hours. Yes that is correct 15,000 hours. It is a sleeved motor and can be rebuilt without much difficulty. We found this out after the oil plug was taken out by some vandals. My father farmed 60 acers with it farming corn, soybeans, cucumbers, watermelons etc. I used it for ten years farming 5 to 15 acers of square baled hay. I later bought a bigger tractor to run a round bailer but still used the 2040 for cutting, raking, planting and cultivating crops.
It is a good versatile tractor that I would recommend to anyone.
