Sorry, but you not going to find a G- built on that date. The production og the G started in late 1938 and only 1000 were built that first year. In "39 they built 7500 or so.
Even, to get one of the 1st G"s built, with the prices some JD"s seem to get you may be talking many many $$$$$$.
It is a nice sentiment you have for your grandfather, do not be discouraged, look for a JD-G as a project for you and him, but do not worry about the specific day/or perhaps year.
Also, I know on no tractor lines where the records are any accurate enough to detail a specific day.
