Your design sounds similar to the wooden dump trailers my uncle used to build. It had a car rear end with a welded pipe frame for the tongue. an oak beam was bolted the length of the axle and the wooden dump body was attached by hinges to the beam.
With sand and paper on the bed you could unlatch the front of the tilt bed and with little effort tilt the 1500 lbs load. you pull the tractor forward letting the clutch out quick and the whole load would slide off in the shade - or into the dump if you were hauling trash.
