Brake pads, like windshield wiper blades and clutch discs, are considered "wearable items" under most warranties. Dealers and manufacturers can't control if you drive with your foot on the brake [had a great uncle who did after a stroke], or if you slip your clutch a lot, or if you use your wipers to try to remove ice from the windshield...so those items are usually NOT covered by warranty, unless something breaks.
