Unless you're going to burn it down with RoundUp... I think you're going to have a disaster. Plow the clover under and then use one of the things already mentioned as a mulch. I'd think the grass clippings, sawdust, straw, plastic or geotex would work fine.... but for my mileage I'd just hit the clover with Roundup and 2-4D, then you could plant right into it. Residue will be somewhere between negligible and non-existent.
