One question I have is--will you eventually be streaming video (movies) to your computer or through a device to your television set? If so you will want the router to have a good speed to it. Many today are easily capable of doing the streaming.
I had to purchase a wireless router so that I could use a Roku streaming video device. Roku has a list which is not all inclusive for those that work well with their devices.
I bought what is call an "N" class. It was about $35 and streams the video well, and does speed tests well for my computer.
I'm not computer trained or real knowledgeable but someone here can sure advise you.
