That could do it. It's worth a try, but I can't be too optimistic.
The few air bag systems I've worked on, (all GM), have had so many safeguards in place that it's doubtful any outside interference could affect the system, physical damage notwithstanding. Every wiring connector has at least two features that need to be defeated to unplug the connector, so it's a 100% certainty that no plug just worked loose, etc.
