Frankly, I thought your response was rather nonchalant.
What I did, was immediately ran to a deep sink and flushed my eyes copiously with water. I then jumped on my motorcycle and high-tailed it to the ER at sick bay. The way my eyes were watering, it's a wonder I did't wipe out on the way. When I got there, I didn't even bother with the kick stand, just cut the ignition and led the bike fend for itself on the lawn.
I ran in, explained what happened, and a doctor immediately laid me down and initiated an eye wash with medication to neutralize any laquer thinner residue that might be left.
No lasting damage, and the doctor commented that all of my responses were the best I could have done. Within a hour or two, I couldn't tell the difference.
I shouldn't need to comment that your eyes aren't anything to take chances with.
