Lou, you can search out the thread as well as I can. It was 3-4 weeks ago, I am not sure which form . It was one of those endless ignition coil discussions about ignition coils, some needing an external ballast resistor, some not.
My comment in that thread was that there is a false perception that some modern ignition coils have an internal resistor, when in fact they only have a low impedence(1.5 ohm) primary winding or a higher impedence (3 ohm) primary winding, there is no actual resistor inside the coil. To use the low impedence coil on 12V, you need to use an external ignition resistor (1.5 ohm), while the coil with a 3 ohm primary winding does not need an external resistor as the 3 ohm prinary winding can absorb 12V alone.
JD then posted that I was wrong because a coil primary winding has resistance, therefore it is a resistor. John T then posted that JD claiming that a coil of wire is a resistor because it has some resistance was a foolish incorrect statement, and John T calmly explain why in their next 2-3 posts. If you read the thread you will plainly see that on this one, instead of being his usual helpful self, JD was not there to help or add useful info to the thread, he was there to start an arguement and win.
