When you lift the rockshaft, both plows lock in the lifted position. Then there is a lever on either side that locks one individual plow. Lower the one you want to plow. It's easier to release the plow, then lower the rockshaft, but you can lower the rockshaft, and then release and drop the plow. If you look at the far left of the picture, you can just see a little bit of the release lever for the left plow.
