Yeah.... Honda sucks I just had to change the engine in an 04 Civic that had 156,000 miles on it. When I asked the previous owner when its last oil change was he looked at me blankly. It seems he only added oil when the red oil light flashed(typical American youth).
Yes Honda brake pad are hard as rocks, and eat rotors. When you change pads the rotors are almost always shot. You warp rotors if you brake hard, get them hot, then hold the brake tight at a stop light.
As for oil use... the one I just fixed used a lot, but it had a 4" hole in the block and was only running on 3 cylinders.
