At age 76, nothing infuriates me more than when medical personnel take a condescending attitude that at my age all I want is to be comfortable for what little time I might have left. They have no way of knowing how much time I have left. Looking at my family history, I could easily go another 20-25 years.
If I have a physical problem, I want it fixed so I can get on with my life.
My mother, a self described "tough old bird", had a worn out knee at age 89. Her doctor was giving her pointers on how she could live with it. She told the doctor, "I don't want to live with it, I want it replaced. I don't know how many years I have left on this Earth, but I don't want to spend them in pain like I have been".
So--they replaced her knee and she lived actively and happily for another five years.

Today's Featured Article - Third Brush Generators - by Chris Pratt. While I love straightening sheet metal, cleaning, and painting old tractors, I use every excuse to avoid working on the on the electrics. I find the whole process sheer mystery.
