The drive housing on the starter for my MF 202 (continental Z134 engine) has cracked and broken. I replaced the drive less than a year ago and noticed over the winter that it did not sound right. I also noticed upon removing it from the tractor that the drive gear was cracked. Could this mean I bought the wrong drive or was it a flimsy replacement part?
I know they used 3 different starters for the 202, the first two were the type that did not have the solenoid attached and the newest one did have the solenoid attached to the starter.
My question is this, if I were to find a starter that rotated in the right direction (CW) and had the 9 tooth sprocket, would it matter which one I put in? Or should I look for parts to rebuild this one?
