I"m not diplomatic enough to be in politics! I"ve talked to a lot of folks around here who are absolutely certain the climate change is man caused and I tell them the same thing and they think I"m nuts. That includes a PhD who claims it is "settled science." That"s pure bunk!
I live near St. Ignatius at the foot of the high peaks of the Missions. You are very knowledgeable about the Glacial Lake Missoula floods and it appears you live in or near the channeled scablands that were created by the these floods. The scientists say that when the Purcell ice dam broke, the resulting instantaneous flow rate draining out of Lake Missoula was greater than the combined flow of all the rivers in the world. Not only that but these same folks say it happened at least 42 times that they can find evidence of. Around our valley and in the Missoula Valley, you can see the "bathtub rings" that the lake left behind. We haven"t had an "ice age" for ~10,000 years but nobody disputes that it occured. If that"s so and we are not in an ice age now, we muxct be in "warming" trend. So it stands to reason that its quite likely the warming trend will end and we will again be on a cooling trend leaning to another "ice age".
Can man kind effect that? I don"t think anybody really has any quantitative proof one way or another. However the Nobel Prize Selection Committee must know something the rest of us don"t know because they gave all these folks leading the charge on globalwarming/climate change a Nobel prize! Go Figure.
