hope you didnot turn the nut that is closest to the block as it is made to seat in the slot of the bracket the nut next to the fan is the one to be loosened the belt is put on over the blades while you are at it I would put on a new fan belt the fan belt is 17/32x26-1/2 work the belts over the fan and into position that way the gen belt goes on first
