If you have the old carb and mag-try swapping them back in one at a time to see if either helps. A new mag can have a bad condenser as many are bad from new. A new carb can have sticking floats as thay are not run tested. A new carb on an old fuel system can get plugged immediately so check it. Check to make sure the manifold is seated and not leaky. Unlit propane torch at the intakes will tell you.
