e man, Ive NEVER had a starter go bad because its a 6 volt and I converted the tractor to 12 and kept the old starter. HOWEVER I agree it can possibly be a tad tougher on the drives due the the increased kick in torque when you use 12 volts on a 6 volt starter. If youre having a starter repaired, I wouldnt worry about any trouble in the near future, they can and do eventually wear out regardless you know. John T
