Years ago, I as on icyroad and an indecisive cat walked back * forth in front of me. If it had stuck to any of it's first 2 choices I coulda avoided it. It made 2 more choices neither good, nothing I could do couldn't stop in time from when I saw it. Felt bad when I saw it hunker down just as it disappeared from vision. Picked off a couple baby racoons one time, ma made it but the kits came from nowhere. Didn't like to mess up the family, but too many racoons around anyhow.
Wife ran over 2 adult racoons at the same time with the car - think she had all 4 wheels off the ground for an instant, that was kinda exciting rumble strps, theyt were big ones.
We hit something with the same car, was like a large dog or cyote or something, ripped the front fender off. No sign of what it was.
