Since yesterday afternoon I've been going through a situation many of you who are in my age range can relate to. My 89 year old dad came out to the farm yesterday as usual but when he was going to leave he lost his balance and went down hard on the cement. To make a long story short I'm now sitting in a hospital room watching him wake up from surgery to put a plate and screws in his broken leg. There is nothing life threatening going on and someday he will be walking again, but it's been quite an interesting 30 hours with five hours of sleep. Tomorrow my stepmother and I go to the nursing home to see if they have a room for him for awhile. Kind of tough to see a man I remember as being younger and strong be in this condition but everything looks good so far. He played basketball on the town team till he was 32 years old and now, 57 years later the smallest thing will trip him up. Not begging for prayers though they are welcome if you wish. He's brave, jokes with the nurses and thanks them for helping him. Just need to vent. Jim
