Jack one rear wheel up off the ground and block the others to keep it from rolling. Then start and run the tractor in road gear and see if the noise persists if not jack up the other rear wheel and try it. If it persists in just one wheel it's most likely an axle bearing. If it persists when either rear wheel is off the ground it's most likely a pinion bearing.
