Just looking at the manual pics - one for the 5525 (first page/pics) and one for a 5055s (second page/pics) (which I have), the caps look similar.
If that is the case, on my cap, there are no male/female threads that attach the cap to the tube - but rather a knob that one tightens/loosens. Under the cap is a fat rubber doughnut. As you tighten/loosen the knob on the cap, it (via threads) squeezes the doughnut - expanding it outward and into the filler tube ID. Once tight, you cannot turn the cap as it is down on the filler tube. One word of caution, don't make it to loose as I imagine the doughnut could come completely unscrewed can fall into the tranny. BTW, my 5055d has sight glasses for tranny fluid level vs a dipstick. The cap is what it is - a cap.
If what I'm describing - try turning the knob vs trying to turning the base of the cap as it sets over the filler tube.
