I bought one for $400 on Craigslist and sold off all of the parts I did not need on eBay for about $500 a few years ago. I use mine almost every day as a lathe, for disc sanding and for horizontal drilling. I build banjos, fiddles, guitars and such and find it very helpful, but I have regular tools for the other functions the Shopsmith can do, like the jointer, bandsaw, router, table saw and such.
