: It sounds like a fuel system problem
: .Maybe it's starving for fuel or has water in the fuel,
: Float valve stuckclosed,clogged fuel filters,etc.

: After you get it runing see if it will stay running by spraying WD40 into the air intake. If it does you know it's not getting fuel for some reason.

: Gas engine love to run on WD40 and it's safer than playing with gasoline.

: : My gas ford 2000 isn't running all of a sudden. It started acting up this morning(I haven't used it for two weeks). It starta ok using full choke then beggins to misfire and after 5 to 10 seconds stalls out completely. The choke has no effect once it begins to go. It won't start right away but if I let it sit a while it will again repeat the start/stall problem. I have checked the plugs and it seems to be getting gas. At least it's getting to the carburator. Any thoughts?

I think Dan has it pegged. Sounds just like my 821 when it is starving for fuel. I use a fuel filter because of the little bit of rust in the gas tank and when the filter clogs it does exactly what you describe. Starts ok, but doesn't have enough gas to keep going. Shut it off and wait, then it will restart and repeat the scenario. I suspect something in your gas delivery line is not letting fuel to the carb. Float chamber needle valve dirty perhaps. At least you know when it does get gas it runs ok. Definitely in the gas supply is my guess.

Today's Featured Article - Harvestin Hay: The Early Years (Part 2) - by Pat Browning. The summer of 1950 was the start of a new era in farming for our family. I was thirteen, and Kathy (my oldest sister) was seven. At this age, I believed tractor farming was the only way, hot stuff -- and given a chance I probably would have used the tractor, Dad's first, a 1936 Model "A" John Deere, to go bring in the cows! And I think Dad was ready for some automation too. And so it was that we acquired a good, used J. I. Case, wire tie hay baler. In addition to a person to drive th ... [Read Article]
