Just a comment on fuel stabilizer additives. Last fall I added one ounce of the stuff (supposedly for motorcycles but it's probably the same as any of the others) to a full gas tank on my old 22-year-old motorcycle, then ran it for about 10 minutes before shutting things down for the winter. This spring, the bike NEVER started as good in the past as it did this year, and still it now runs better and smoother than it ever did. I'm not imagining anything, the stuff really worked for me.
