Jon, I got this alternator brand new from a local shop that specilizes in auto, truck, and tractor alternators. I,m not sure which model of Delco-Remy alternator it is. Are you saying that the end of the wire where the insulation is stripped off could touch the alternator causing current drain? Could it also do this up at the ammeter? Most of the wire is fully insulated, so I don't see how it would make any difference even it did touch something.
