I launder my work/outdoor pants together, then hang outside and spray with Permethrin. Let dry for 2 hours at least, good for 6 washings or 6 weeks. I can tell it fades a bit, and I go in places teeming with ticks, I can see them walking up my pants legs, not dropping off easily like with a fresh application, but it still screws them up, they are easily flicked off.
There are times you can't walk to the mailbox and not get one on you, incredible how they are everywhere now.
