When the pump is installed with the key up it is lined up with the port for #1. The mark has about 1/8 th inch to go to line up with the pointer. If I turn it to the mark, it moves back as it is starting up the ramp. My son used sandpaper on the pulley & no marks were found BTDC. I made a soapstone mark 1 3/4 inches BTDC & installed the pump there. If I get no smoke I will move it closer to TDC by 1/2 inch at a time & see what happens. If I hit it close enough to get it to smoke, I can fine tune it from there. Thanks for the reply.
