When I run your route through google maps, it shows the US 160 route being a mere 1 minute slower than the 140/163 route. So they're the same. Google will always show you the route it thinks is fastest, even if it's only a couple of minutes faster.
I've also noticed that google maps and most other map apps and GPS devices give a marked preference to interstate highways. For instance, when routing from our home north of Detroit to points south, it will often prefer I-75 over US-23, even though 23 is much more direct and avoids going through the city.
